GoodNeighbor Quarterly or Semi-Annual Events
Each year various community events are held at our GoodNeighbor Centers. In past years, these have included block parties, back to school fairs, acts of kindness days and special holiday events, all of which provide short term volunteer opportunities. These fun events involve collaboration with business and other not-for-profits around the GoodNeighbor Center.
Job Connection
Goodwill provides free job-placement services to individuals seeking community-based jobs. Job Connection helps participants assess their career goals, perpare strong resumes and cover letters, identify prospective employers and conduct successful job interviews. The Job Connection utilizes volunteers at all four of our centers for basic receptionist duties and for data entry. This volunteer opportunity is available at 4 locations:
- Palm Central

- North Trail
3501 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota
- Rialto
656 South Tamiami Trail, Venice
Goodwill Faith Care Connection
Goodwill trains Sarasota County church members how to help members and non-members get follow-through assistance from the available 1,500 free programs of Sarasota's over 500 not-for-profits. Care Givers choose one to three hour slots each week to help those congregations have referred. Extensive training is provided. This volunteer opportunity is available at two locations:
- Honore

- Rialto

GoodNeighbor Month (March)
Goodwill believes in neighbors helping neighbors, but also knows it's hard to help your neighbor if you don't know them! So Goodwill is collaborating with neighborhood associations, churches, realtors and others to encourage their members to invite their neighbors over to their home for a pot luck. This volunteer opportunity could require a short term, but intense time commitment during the winter season.
Housing Initiatives
Our Housing Teams use volunteers for clerical purposes and for family mentoring which helps families move into home ownership.
